5 Ways to Reduce Eyestrain when using Computers & Smartphones

#1 – The Obvious – Dim your computer or phone screen. There is also the “Auto Brightness” option on most smartphones. With this setting turned on, your phone will automatically adjust brightness according to the amount of light you are currently in.

#2 – 20-20 20 Rule – Take a 20 second break every 20 minutes and look at something 20 feet away.

#3 – Blink Often – Blinking allows your eyes to lubricate in a way that moistens your eye. This will prevent dryness and irritation.

#4 – Computer Glasses – No, I’m not talking about your bifocals or progressive lenses. Ask your optician about computer glasses, even if you don’t wear glasses.

#5 – Have a Break – Lastly, just take a break whenever your eyes are hurting. Try to look at something in the distance and close up, and repeat 10 times.
